On 16th September 2013, Alan Shearer undertook a charity golf marathon of 18 courses in one day. The challenge which was sponsored by Next Generation Money, involved the former Newcastle United striker playing a hole in 18 different courses, travelling between them by helicopter, train and road. The day started at Alan Shearer’s home club, The Close House in Newcastle at 6:30am and arrived at Stoke Park around 4pm to play famous first tee.
